Lymphatic Drainage Therapy

Lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle technique that moves fluid away from swollen areas back into the blood system. It helps reduce swelling, boosts healing after surgery, and supports the immune system.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic comes from the Latin word lynphaticus, meaning “connected to the water”, since Lymph is a clear fluid. The lymph system is a complex network comprised of organs, lymph nodes, lymph ducts, and lymph vessels. This system is critical to our body. It makes and moves lymph (a clear, colorless fluid, containing white blood cells) from tissues to the bloodstream.

The lymphatic system filters fluid from around cells. Lymph collects toxins and foreign substances and it filters it to detoxify and regenerate tissues in order to maintain a healthy immune system.

Lymph vessels propel lymph by contracting the lymphangions, tiny muscular units, to the lymph nodes where they get filtered and sent back to the circulatory system.

The lymphatic system includes the tonsils, adenoids, spleen and thymus as well.
